Farms & Farm Tours

Reap the rewards of a visit to some of Tennessee’s best historic, working and educational farms.

Visit a farm and participate in a fall festival with corn mazes, pumpkins and sorghum-making. Or, take your horse on a jaunt to a farm with trails and bunkhouses for you to hang up your spurs and enjoy a campfire with country music.

Farms owned and farmed by the same family for 100 years or more are Tennessee Century Farms, passed down from generation to generation. The Tennessee Century Farms Program was created in 1975 by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture as part of our nation’s bicentennial celebration. In 1985, the Center for Historic Preservation at Middle Tennessee State University took over the program, which was originally designed and continues to be a recognition and documentary effort. Founded in 1775, the oldest Century Farm in Tennessee is the Masengill farm in Sullivan County.
