Travel down a Middle Tennessee back road to Gallatin Tenn., where you will find acres of rolling farmland scattered with barns, livestock, and rows of corn, tobacco and soybeans. Explore gift shops for crafts and quilts, or browse the exhibits at a county fair or festival. Roadside stands and farmer's markets offer mouthwatering homegrown vegetables and fruits, or pick your own at one of the farms. Take home a jar of Tennessee honey or a bottle of wine made from Sumner County grapes. Local cafes serve up Southern dishes just the way Grandma used to make. Try the fruit cobbler, fried green tomatoes and fried apple pies. Make sure to bring your camera, there is beautiful scenery in every season – azaleas, dogwoods and iris in the spring, blazing fall color with mums, pumpkins and autumn leaves, and frosty winter mornings with smoke rising from farmhouse chimneys.
