HISTORY COMES TO LIFE AT THE 11TH ANNUAL TENNESSEE HISTORY FESTIVAL

The 11th annual Tennessee History Festival will bring Tennessee’s stories to life 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17-18 at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The event is open to the public.

Living historians will portray Tennessean’s including John Sevier, Sgt. Alvin C. York and David Crockett along with British soldiers at Fort Loudon, Cherokees, and women’s suffragettes.

Festival attendees can visit several historical and cultural sites from across the state that will be set up along the granite history timeline at the park. Various county tourism boards will also be in attendance. Several authors of Tennessee history books will be available to sell and discuss their publications. An activity tent sponsored the TN State Parks Junior Ranger Program will be available for children both days.

Living history demonstrations will be conducted regularly throughout the festival. Special programs will be presented every hour at the Court of Three Stars.

The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is located at the foot of the State Capitol in downtown Nashville. The 19-acre park was designed to complement the Capitol and give visitors a taste of Tennessee’s history and natural wonders, while serving as a lasting monument to Tennessee’s Bicentennial celebration.
