BATTLE OF FRANKLIN TRUST ANNOUNCES ONE-TIME CARNTON PLANTATION TOURS

One-time tour events as part of The Battle of Franklin Trust’s Sesquicentennial calendar of events, will take place Nov. 28-29, highlighting Carnton Plantation and the role the home and grounds played in the Battle of Franklin.

The first tour will occur 6 p.m. Nov. 28, led by Eric A. Jacobson , The Battle of Franklin Trust CEO and historian, will touch on the Carnton Plantation family and the home that became a hospital. Tickets are $20 per person. The tour is limited to 30 guests.

 

Nearly 100 confederate re-enactors will portray soldiers in a hospital scene 6:30-9 p.m. Nov. 29 inside Carnton Plantation. The final tour will begin at 8:30 p.m. Visitors will be greeted by a guide who will explain visitors will see a true visual representation of Carnton Plantation that fateful night. All four rooms on the ground floor, as well as the hallway and staircase of the home, will be filled with of wounded soldiers and surgeons tending to their injuries.

 

The living historians will not interact with the guests, allowing visitors to simply observe. Groups of about 15 guests will be allowed to enter at one time, and each group will have approximately 15 minutes to explore the scene within the house. Reservations are not required. Tickets are $5.
