Billy Yates wrote “Choices” (George Jones); “Honky Tonk Song” (George Jones); “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair” (George Jones); “Turn for the Worse” (Kenny Chesney); and songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, David Allan Coe, Sara Evans, Tracy Lawrence, Joe Nichols, and George Strait. Buddy Jewell rose to fame as the first winner of USA Network’s Nashville Star. He scored Top Ten singles with “Sweet Southern Comfort” and his self-penned “Help Pour out the Rain (Lacey’s Song).” He also wrote his songs “Abilene on Her Mind,” “Addicted to the Rain,” and “One in a Row.”
