Tennessee State Library and Archives, in cooperation with the Tennessee Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, will create a virtual exhibit at the park each day, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Tennessee. The exhibit will be open Thursday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon, providing Tennessee families with the opportunity to bring items representing their rich Civil War heritage to include in the virtual exhibit. Memorabilia suitable for digitizing include photographs, letters, diaries, maps, military passes and discharges, sketches, uniforms and weapons (swords, knives, etc.). All items must be original, no photocopies, and must be owned by the person bringing them in for digitization. All digital imaging will be done on site and participants will receive digital copies of the images, basic conservation supplies for their items and will have the opportunity to have their Civil War memorabilia preserved, digitized and shared online for future generations. To schedule an appointment to have conservators digitally copy and assist in the preservation of your Civil War memorabilia on Thursday, July 11 or Friday, July 12, contact 931-535-2789 or 615-741-1883 or visit www.tn.gov/tsla/cwtn.
