The Grand Master Fiddler Championship is the premier contest of its kind, with the aim of recognizing the top fiddler in North America. It was originally held in conjunction with CMA’s Fan Fair from 1972 to 1997 and then was revived in 2005 to coincide with the IBMA’s annual bluegrass Fan Fest. This marks the first time that the contest will be hosted by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Past winners such as Mark O’Connor and Jimmy Mattingly went on to have hugely successful recording and touring careers. Competition rounds will take place on both days, interspersed with performances by renowned old-time and bluegrass musicians. The winning Grand Master Fiddler Champion will perform on the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday evening. For more information and contest rules, visit GrandMasterFiddler.com.
