GRANVILLE, Tenn. – The public now has an opportunity to visit “Made in Tennessee: Manufacturing Milestones,” an exhibit at the Granville Museum through November 1, 2015. It illustrates the transformation of Tennessee manufacturing over the past 254 years. Funded in part by a $50,000 Alcoa Foundation grant, given in honor of Alcoa Tennessee Operations 100th anniversary celebration, the exhibit is divided into seven time periods. The exhibit chronicles how Tennesseans made the progression from agriculture to industry and the history of manufacturing across the state. The goal of the exhibition and educational curriculum is to raise awareness of manufacturing’s role in America, and more specifically Tennessee, through artifacts, print materials and photographs that tell stories highlighting the emergence of different industries from 1760 to now and into the future, which includes a strong outlook for the automotive industry in Tennessee with Alcoa Inc., Volkswagen and Knoxville Local Motors 3D printing.
