This rare copy of a narrated documentary about Merle Haggard features a live concert from St. Louis, Missouri, interspersed with more intimate scenes. Haggard is seen rehearsing and recording with the Strangers and writing songs with Bonnie Owens. It includes the songs “Workin’ Man Blues,” “Daddy Frank,” “I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am,” and “Okie from Muskogee.” Made possible by Iron Mountain Film and Sound Archives. Presented in support of the Museum’s exhibit The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country, Support provided by the Academy of Country Music, Ford Motor Company Fund, and SunTrust. Takes place in the Museum’s Ford Theater. 60 minutes. Program is free and open to the public.
