"A Day of Washing, Churning, and Learning" Presented by Oaklands Historic House Museum

Students grades K-6 will experience the chores of the mid-1800's through period crafts, demonstrations, games and hands-on activities as well as visit the Historic House Museum. "A Day of Washing, Churning, and Learning" is slated for May 13 & 14, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the historic site, located at 900 North Maney Avenue in Murfreesboro.

This event will focus on chores of the mid-1800's through hands-on activities for students such as candle making, clothes washing, butter churning, quill writing, and rug beating. Living history demonstrators and artisans such as beekeepers, blacksmiths, tatters, and brick makers will be on the grounds.
