Musician and entertainer Rick Hines plays at the Commodore Café on several Friday nights throughout the year. “He always makes guests smile,” says hotel owner Kathy Dumont. “I grew up in Washington D.C. and have been singing since before I can remember,” says Hines, the consummate performer – and, by the way – really nice guy. He’s had a very storied career. “I have performed all over the Country, from top to bottom from left coast to right coast, most notably: Las Vegas at the Hard Rock and Sam’s Town Casino, Disney Anaheim at the Hotel, Chicago, Minneapolis, L.A. and many other cities.” CLICK HERE for VIDEO CLIP of a yodeling song! Hines continues, “I performed for 14 years at the Stockyard Restaurant & Bull Pen Lounge in Nashville. Been on Hee Haw, Easter Seals Telethon, West 57th Street TV show, and an Extra in (the film) The Green Mile.” One of the amazing things Rick can do is: “play a trombone” — without the instrument. He can perfectly mimic the sound of a horn playing, which he does several times, during different songs in his act. He says, “The horn thing developed from being snowed in at home for three days and only had Al Hirt’s “Horn-a-Plenty” Album to listen to.” We have that snowstorm to thank for this remarkable talent, which always makes diners do a double-take: where did that come from?
