We are The Cliftones, Darrell & Sissy Pogue, we moved from Memphis to the back woods of nearby rural Tennessee about twelve years ago. Musicians for nearly all of our lives, Darrell “cut his teeth” in the music business playing drums at about every club in Memphis for 25 years, including Beale Street, the outdoor festival Memphis in May, and The Peabody. During this period, he worked with Dan Phillips, a well-known Memphis songwriter, and many others. Sissy worked with many different bands doing outdoor festivals and different clubs in and around Hardeman County before moving to Memphis. We lived and played there a few more years, and then we moved to Clifton, TN. Darrell started playing guitar and we became the duo The "Cliftones".We started singing and playing local venues soon after we moved here and have played almost every night since. We have played the Horseshoe River Bend festival in Clifton and the Pumpkin Harvest festival in Waynesboro for several years now. We have also done some recording for TV on WBBJ from the Tennessee River Arts Village in Perryville, TN, WKNO out of Memphis and the Singer/Songwriter ETC. program out of Nashville. We were the house band at The Broken Spoke in Pickwick from 2003 till 2013 playing several nights a week. We have recorded seven of Dan Phillips’ songs and one original by Darrell.
