Honest Abe Log Homes is hosting a Log Raising on April 11 at its national headquarters in Moss, Tenn. During the three-hour, free event beginning at 9 a.m., members of the Honest Abe team will construct a small log structure, demonstrating and describing the process of building an Honest Abe log home, according to company president Josh Beasley. “These demonstrations show first-hand how an Honest Abe log home is built from the ground up,” Beasley said. “We'll assemble the floor system, join together the walls, create window and door openings, install beams and ceilings and apply the roof system.” Beasley said that the Log Raising is held in a climate-controlled building where attendees are seated comfortably and encouraged to interact and ask questions. “In addition to the demonstration, they will learn about the care and maintenance of a log home,” Beasley said, adding that guests also have an opportunity to spend time with design and drafting professionals, manufacturing and sales staff, builders, supply vendors and others involved in the Honest Abe process. Following the presentation, lunch is served and a tour of the manufacturing facility is conducted. Call 800-231-3695 to reserve one of a limited number of seats.
