“Marketing with Social Media” to be at Blount County Public Library

Curious about Facebook? Twitter? MySpace? Flickr? If you’ve been hearing a lot about “tweets,” “pokes,” and “Blogs”…but it all sounds like a bunch of nonsensical words, then you may be interested in learning how to use these online tools to assist you in marketing your business…or communicating with your grandkids.
Learn how these online social media tools can be used to promote a business or to communicate with children, grandchildren, friends and family. How can they help?
Genny Carter, Public Relations and Data Coordinator at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville, will demonstrate how these free (and mostly free) tools can be used for creating, collaborating, sharing, networking, marketing...and just plain having fun.
The program will be presented on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sharon Lawson Room of the library.
“Marketing and Networking Online with Social Media” will be presented as a way to open doors to a new generation of people (and communications). Learn creative new ways to market your business or communicate with the younger generation. Sponsors are the Friends of the Blount County Public Library.
In addition to the obvious networking sites, Carter will also include an introduction to programs like GIMP, Open Office, and Google Docs which are freely available online, but not exactly networking tools.
Find out that “social media” isn’t just for kids. Many small businesses are embracing these sites as useful marketing tools. Teachers are using them to stay in touch with students. Grandparents are finding them helpful to maintain contact with their grandchildren.
Free and open to the public, the program is at the Blount County Public Library, located at 508 N. Cusick Street, Maryville.
For further information about other library programs or services, call the library at 982-0981 or visit the Web site at www.blountlibrary.org.
