Start out in Chattanooga’s riverfront district, where you’ll find the Big River Grille and Brewing Works, which has now expanded with a second Chattanooga location and a Nashville spot. At all three, you’ll find award-winning ales and lagers in addition to innovative cuisine. Across the river in trendy NorthShore is Chattanooga Brewing Company, with seasonal beers and a revival of the brand’s Imperial Pilsner from the 1890s.
Head to downtown Knoxville and the Downtown Grill & Brewery for craft-brewed beers and tasty food, either inside the restaurant or on the street-front patio. Stop in at Suttree’s High Gravity Tavern for a taste of both regular and high-gravity craft beers, or head to the beer garden at Bearden’s Beer Market. All Calhoun’s locations offer top-notch microbrewed beers on the Knoxville riverfront, at Bearden Hill, and all the way to the marina on Fort Loudon Lake.
Next stop is Middle Tennessee and the Black Horse Pub & Brewery in Clarksville. Nashville’s Yazoo Brewing Company has tours and a tasting room where you can try smooth beers in a variety of flavors. 12th South Taproom & Grill in Nashville is a popular place to hang out, try the beers and have a sandwich. Tennessee Brew Works on Ewing serves up “Finely Tuned Craft Beer” with a local focus.
