Three Days of History and Arts

Day One

Head downtown to the world’s largest freshwater aquarium, the Tennessee Aquarium, where you will be amazed by the wonderful new Ocean Journey building with12-foot sharks and tropical fish swimming overhead. Allow a couple of hours to take in the forest, the swamp, and the River Journey.

Next door, take in the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater, where you will feel like you are in the movie, not just watching it.

Afterward, check out a great downtown restaurant such as the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn, where “nothing could be finer” than seeing the 1909 terminal station that houses several restaurants, gardens, shops, a hotel, and a miniature train display.

Day Two

Leave your hotel after breakfast to begin the day on historic Lookout Mountain. Start the fun at Ruby Falls for a unique underground experience. The guided tour takes you along a level, paved pathway, revealing a beautiful cavern with unique formations and 145-foot waterfall.

Come back to ground level for a thrilling ride on America’s Most Amazing Mile, the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway. The world’s steepest passenger railway has carried visitors up and down the mountain for more than 100 years.

A short drive takes you to the The Battles for Chattanooga Electric Map. This 3-dimensional presentation of the city’s 1863 Civil War history features miniature figures, lights and a new sound system in a theater setting.

Walk across the street and enter Point Park, where you will find breathtaking views of Chattanooga & the Tennessee River. Don’t miss the New York Peace Monument.

You will see beautiful homes as you drive the short distance to Rock City Gardens where you can enjoy lunch on your own (or a pre-arranged group meal) before touring the lush gardens and formations which gave this “city of rocks” its name. Your view of seven states at Lover’s Leap is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

Head back downtown to the Bluff View Art District where you will find various galleries, gardens, shops and restaurants, including the Hunter Museum of American Art and its fabulous new $20 million dollar expansion. Hunter can do a special program for your group or even a scavenger hunt.

When it’s time for food, enjoy a delicious prime rib dinner and dancing while cruising down the scenic Tennessee River aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat.

Day Three

After breakfast, your next adventure will be at the Tennessee Valley Railroad. Tour the 40 acres of railroad history and ride the historic steam locomotive, traveling along a six-mile loop and through a pre-civil war tunnel.

Head home with great memories of Chattanooga.
