Tennessee's Quilt Trail Launches First Quilt App
The Appalachian Quilt Trail celebrated its 10th anniversary in September with the announcement of Tennessee’s first quilt app and the unveiling of its 110 quilt square at Cleek Farms near Kingsport. The trail, a project of the Appalachian RC&D Council, was patterned after a similar project in Ohio which is “ground zero” for the barn quilt movement. The Quilt Trail boosts agricultural tourism by directly connecting customers to farms and raising the profile of the importance of sustaining farm economy. The Trail tells the stories of how time weaves together families and land on multi-generational farms and in communities. The AQT will continue its celebration in October with a Farm to Table fundraiser on October 11 with Donna Sue Groves, founder of the original Quilt Trail in Ohio and a regional heritage festival on October 12, featuring a network of 30 quilt sites.
