Brown’s Ferry Federal Road Dedication
The re-opening of the historic Brown’s Ferry Federal Road that crosses Moccasin Bend was held in October as part of the 175th Anniversary of the Trail of Tears. The .6-mile trace ends at the Tennessee River shoreline. The road was used in 1838 to remove members of the Cherokee and Creek Nations to Indian Territory. The road also played a pivotal role during the Civil War in breaking the Confederate siege on the Union army encamped in Chattanooga.
