Blackwoods inducted into Memphis Music Hall of Fame
The Blackwood Brothers were one of 13 inductees into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame during the second annual awards ceremony at the Gibson Showcase Lounge in Memphis. R.W. Blackwood and other second generation Blackwood family members were on hand to accept the award, given posthumously in honor of the quartet.
R.W. and his wife, Donna Blackwood, produce the “Blackwoods Morning Variety Show” at the Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Memphis Music Hall of Fame honors the city’s musical sound and legacy that has impacted a culture worldwide. Elvis Presley was the first inductee in 2012. Those inducted this year included Johnny Cash, blues guitar icon Albert King, Stax Queen Carla Thomas, and studio “magician” Roland Janes and others.
