Nashville, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Recognized as Meetings Destinations
Pigeon Forge and Nashville are two of five cities across the Southeast that were named the 2014 “Rising Destinations for Meetings” by ConventionSouth magazine. Editors cited the impact of the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge as the primary reason for choosing Pigeon Forge. The $45 million special event center opened last October and already has hosted multiple events, some with attendances of more than 10,000 people.
In Nashville, the Music City Center boasts 1.2 million square feet of event space, a green roof, eco-friendly architectural components, and more than 100 pieces of art throughout the building. The Center is across from the expanded Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the new Omni Nashville Hotel.
The Gatlinburg Convention Center has been recognized with a 2013 Readers Choice Award by the publishers and editors of ConventionSouth, the national multimedia resource for planning meetings in the South. More than 6,500 voters participated this year in the selection process – the highest count ever recorded.
Additional honors also went to Memphis, Rutherford County, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountains for being named “The South’s Best Destination Apps and Mobile Sites” by the magazine.
