GRAND OPENING JAMES LEE HOUSE BED AND BREAKFAST
The historic James Lee house in Victorian Village celebrated a grand opening celebration, the culmination of a restoration several years in the making that has turned the property, once home to the Memphis College of Art, into a bed-and-breakfast inn. The new owners were concerned with saving as many of the original details as possible and even hired an artist to restore a faded hand painted ceiling mural in the dining room. The Isabel Suite is surrounded by five grand windows looking out onto a stately magnolia tree. The exposed brick chimney and whimsical door to the bathroom that was doodled on by art students in the art school days give added charm. Thankfully, the original twelve foot gilded pier mirror and window cornices survived and were carefully restored.
