Contest Prizes and Rules
One (1) contest Grand Prize winner will receive a two (2) night stay in a suite at the Peabody Memphis, a magnificent AAA, 4-Diamond hotel. The Peabody Memphis, in the heart of “Blues City,” has the distinction of being the “South’s Grand Hotel.” The historic hotel first opened its doors in 1925 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of Memphis’ most popular attractions. The hotel is known for its famous “Peabody Ducks,” which march to and from the Grand Lobby twice daily in a time-honored tradition dating back to the 1930s. At 11 a.m. and again at 5 p.m., the red carpet is rolled out and the Peabody Ducks amaze and delight guests as they march to the tune of John Phillip Sousa’s “King Cotton March.”
The Grand Prize winner’s suite at the Peabody will accommodate the grand prize winner and his/her guest.
The Grand Prize winner will also receive dinner for two (2) at Chez Philippe at the Peabody Memphis. The Chez Phillippe is a French-Asian dining experience which combines traditional French presentation and techniques with Asian ingredients, offering inventive dishes and bold flavors. Chez Phillippe is the only Mobil Four-Star restaurant in Memphis, is also a AAA Four-Diamond Award winner and has earned the Award of Excellence from both the Distinguished Restaurants of North America and Wine Spectator magazine. It has been named among Food & Wine magazine’s “Top 50 Hotel Restaurants” and described as “worth a special trip” by The New York Times.
In addition, the grand prize winner will receive two (2) passes to the following attractions:
Sun Studio, called the “Birthplace of Rock and Roll,” gives visitors a chance to hear historical out-takes, touch Elvis’ first microphone, experience the stories of legends like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis and see why artists such as U2 and Tom Petty continue to flock to Sun Studios today.
Soulsville: Stax Museum of American Soul Music, a 17,000-square-foot museum on the original site of Stax Records, houses more than 2,000 cultural artifacts, in a celebration of the music and memorabilia made famous by Otis Redding, Booker T. and MGs, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire and more. The museum includes exhibits dedicated to the artists of Muscle Shoals, Motown, Atlantic and Memphis’ own Hi Records and more.
Graceland was the home of Elvis Presley and is the second most visited home in America, as well as a historical landmark. Graceland allows visitors to step back in time to see how Elvis lived, tour his private jets, automobile collection, the legendary “Jungle Room” and “Meditation Room” and more.
Memphis Rock n Soul Museum, is a story of Memphis music, which is representative of America and all its people … rich, poor, black, white, country folk and city folk. No place better epitomizes Memphis’ musical connection to the world that this seven-gallery chronicle with more than one hundred (100) songs and an audio tour which is a museum in and of itself.
PLEASE NOTE: The Peabody Memphis vacation travel package is valid through March 31, 2008. Accommodations at the Peabody Memphis are subject to availability, and certain blackout dates may apply. Any transportation and other costs and/or expenses in connection with this Grand Prize shall be the Grand Prize winner’s sole responsibility and such costs include, but are not limited to, meals (other than the dinner at Chez Phillippe noted above), transportation, insurance, transfers, phone and other personal expenses. The grand prize winner will be determined no later than July 31, 2007, and the grand prize package will be delivered via U.S. Certified Mail to the confirmed grand prize winner no later than five (5) business days following the determination date of the grand prize winner. The winner of the Grand Prize must be an individual eighteen (18) years of age or older and if any of the Grand Prize winner’s travel companion(s) are under the age of eighteen (18), such a companion(s) must be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian.
HOW TO ENTER: Entries must be submitted online through the Department’s Web site at TNvacation.com beginning on April 25, 2007 and ending on June 20, 2007 at 11:59 p.m.(CST).
WHO MAY ENTER: To enter, you must be at least 18 years or older, a United States citizen or permanent, legal resident with a green card. Employees of the State of Tennessee, employees of The Peabody Memphis, Graceland, Sun Studio, Memphis Rock n Soul Museum, Stax Museum and any of the named companies’ subsidiaries or affiliates, as well as the parents, spouse, siblings and/or children of such an employee are NOT eligible for participation.
