It was mid-October and a group of friends rode our Harleys up through Tennessee to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main reason for our trip was to see the leaves changing colors. This is something Florida palm trees do not do!
The colors are magnificent in Tennessee. The ride through Georgia is mostly pavement, but the sight of the Tennessee border was wonderful. The leaves were turning, the days were perfect, nights were chilled just enough to come back to the cabin to warm up by the fireplace and sip our favorite Tennessee wines.
The next morning we rode Deal's Gap's winding turns. The nice part of riding is the beautiful scenery and smells as you ride. A feeling of freedom that's unexplainable to someone who doesn't ride.
Lunch was a quick stop at a local restaraunt for a "homecooked" style meal. Evenings we exchanged stories of previous rides around the fireplace. Ate a little dinner we cooked on the grill and snuggled in bed with the fresh air of the Tennessee mountains around us.
It was only four days of riding, and we took pictures to remember the chilly evenings, the beautiful colors of the leaves and the fellowship of our group of Harley riders. Back to Florida (which I'm not complaining about either, because we love the spring and fall here, too).
As we pulled into the driveway we reflected on our great trip and time spent with our friends, and we're looking forward to the next ride. Where will we go? It's hard to beat the scenic ride in Tennessee!
