Beth Phillips is an Economic Development Specialist at the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service, and has been engaged in promoting economic development in Tennessee for over twenty-seven years. She joined IPS in 2006, where she is engaged in promoting UT's economic development mission statewide, working with partners within and outside the university system to deploy university resources to develop the Tennessee economy. Prior to joining UT, Phillips was employed by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, assisting rural communities to successfully compete for new jobs and economic investment, helping existing industries to be more competitive and expand, and recruiting new business and industry to the State.
Phillips received her undergraduate degree in marketing and transportation from the University of Georgia, and her MBA from the University of Tennessee. She is active in many community and professional organizations, including the East Tennessee Community Design Center and the Tennessee Industrial Development Council.
