John Ketchum has been with LKM for 21 years, where he and his firm provide strategic business and marketing planning, advertising and public relations, web and digital, among other services for their clients. Those clients are in four broad industry segments: Travel & Tourism; Building & Decorating Products; B2B; and Environmental/ Sustainability.
Clients of LKM include companies such as Georgia-Pacific Building Products, Cargill Inc (Bio-Products Division), Hunter Douglas, Mannington Floors, Outward Bound and Levolor.
However, more specific to this Summit, John has been involved in marketing the State of North Carolina as a travel destination for over 20 years.
He began his career at Reynolds Metals Company, followed that in Product Management with Hanes Corporation, and then moved to the advertising agency side of the marketing world. He joined Cargill Wilson & Acree in their Charlotte office as Account Supervisor, then opened and managed a satellite office in Cincinnati for a southeastern-based agency.
John then returned to North Carolina as SVP, Management Supervisor at McKinney & Silver in Raleigh. And in 1987 he acquiesced to his entrepreneurial spirit and moved to Charlotte to form LKM with two other partners.
John is a graduate of Marshall University and has served on the boards of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, Outward Bound North Carolina, the Southeastern Tour & Travel Research Association and the North Carolina Zoological Park.
