Environmental Programs Specialist, North Carolina Department of Agriculture
Currently Maximilian Merrill works with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services as the Environmental Programs Specialist. He gives counsel to farmers and agency staff on environmental legislation and regulations. He also acts as a designee for Commissioner Troxler on legislated environmental and agricultural committees. Maximilian also helps administer the Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund and is diligently working with the legislature and the Commissioner to gain a dedicated revenue source for that fund. This trust fund, and its' 19 member advisory board, is dedicated to preserving farm and forestland for the future of North Carolina. Maximilian Merrill has worked in environmental consulting and with local land trusts in the past. He has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management and a M.S. in Hydrology, both from North Carolina State University.
