Monroe County Mayor Allan Watson comes from a retail background. He was appointed to finish out his brothers un-expired term in the Tennessee State Legislature in 1978-1979. Was elected to Madisonville City Commission 1986-1988, appointed to Monroe County Administration of Elections 1998 to 1990, elected Monroe County Mayor in 1990 and has served 5 terms in a 4 year office. He has served twice as Chairman of the East TN. Development District and Human Resource Agency, Chairman of Monroe County Commission, and of the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency, appointed by Governor Bredesen to serve on the Governor's Citizen Corps Advisory Committee of Homeland Security and the State Planning Board. Mayor Watson also serves as Chairman of the Rural Transportation Planning Organization Southern Division.
