Take yourself out to the ballgame. Kick back with peanuts and Cracker Jacks—or a cold beverage on a sunny day—and watch Tennessee’s professional and college baseball players round third and head for home. After all, this is the state that gave the world Todd Helton, J.P. Arencibia, Rick Honeycutt and Tim McCarver.
There's even a vintage baseball league that plays by Civil War-era rules. Games take place at the Sam Davis Home in Smyrna, Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Bicentenntial Capitol Mall in Nashville, Mansker's Station in Goodlettsville, Roane State Community College in Harriman and Ramsey House in Knoxville.
In addition to nine minor league teams, baseball fans will want to visit the Old Hickory Bat Company in Goodlettsville, or check out some of the excellent tournament venues around the state, such as WC Johnson Park in Collierville, a 10-field complex set among the acres of secenery in the Peterson Nature Center, the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex, adjacent to the Jackson Generals park, or the USA Baseball Stadium in Milington, just to name a few in West Tennessee.
As you travel the state, stop to take in a game at an area college or one of these professional teams.
