The Coleman Cemetery contains about 500 graves, including that of banjo player and original Grand Ole Opry star “Uncle Dave” Macon, who lived just down the road. From his first appearance in 1925 until his death in 1952, Uncle Dave Macon performed on the Opry almost every Saturday night, one of the Opry’s most popular and most enduring performers. Uncle Dave Macon was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966.
