Cosby is spread out over a narrow valley that runs from Allen Grove near Newport in the north to the border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the south. English Mountain rises over 2,000 feet above Cosby to the northwest, and Green Mountain rises just over 1,500 feet to the east. The Smokies are to the south and southwest.
Cosby is in Cocke County; it is home to the annual Ramp Festival.
