Edgar Evins State Park
Silver Point, TN
There's a lot to do and see at Edgar Evins State Park! Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of our shaded picnic areas, come for a visit during one of our annual events (such as the Annual Fiddlers Jamboree), hike some of the parks approximately 11 miles of trails, fish beautiful Center Hill Lake or go for a swim.
Edgar Evins State Park encompasses approximately 6,000 acres on the shores of Center Hill Lake in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. It provides excellent recreational opportunities and accommodations on one of the most beautiful reservoirs in Tennessee. The park was named in memory of James Edgar Evins, an outstanding leader and former state senator who was instrumental in the development of Center Hill Dam and Reservoir. Mr. Edgar Evins was the father of former U.S. Representative, Joe L. Evins.
Wildlife is abundant and includes three different owl species, numerous hawks and wintering bald eagles as well as the rare Cerulean Warbler, a summer resident of the park’s mixed hardwood forests, which include stands of Tulip Poplar, Oak, Hickory, Buckeye and Wild Cherry. An observation tower at the Visitor Center offers a spectacular view of Center Hill Lake and the surrounding hillsides. Directions: South of I-40 on Hwy. 96, north of Smithville.
