This town was formed from three mill villages: Yellow Top, Onion Hill, and Sock Town. Built on textile manufacturing, Englewood has been home to at least 25 mills, employing women to manufacture items ranging from cotton yarn, union suits, womenÂ’s hosiery, socks, and fashion apparel from the mid- 1800s through the late 20th century.
