This church traces its roots back to 1812, established near Murfree Spring in what is now the Old City Cemetery on Vine Street. It was used during the Civil War as a hospital, first by Confederates and then by Union forces. The current structure was built in 1867, with major changes over the last 150 years as the church continued to grow.
