There are several ways to get to The Grease Rack. Coming into Newport from Greeneville on Highway 321, turn left onto Highways 25/70, which is Broadway. Go past Food City and turn right at light #12, onto Lincoln Avenue. Proceed to the top of the hill and veer off to the left at the caution light. You’ll be passing through Union Cemetery. The Grease Rack is on your right.
Formerly a gas station occupied the grounds, hence the name "Grease Rack," Newport natives will avow the restaurant is not a "greasy spoon." A hidden jewel in Newport with a unique atmosphere, the Grease Rack has delicious clam chowder and filets, strips, T-bones, ribeyes, burgers and more. Outstanding service. Opens at 4:30 pm. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Kitchen closes at 9 pm.
