(Private Residence) Built by James and Tennessee Virginia Wood Ham (her real name) just before the Civil War, the costly construction ruined the Hams financially, earning the elegant home the name Ham’s Folly. James Ham died in 1866, deeply in debt, and the house deteriorated considerably during the war. Today, it has been beautifully preserved by its current and past owners.
