The Indie Memphis Film Festival transforms Memphis into a linking point for filmmakers, musicians, artists and audiences. Rated by MovieMaker Magazine as one of "25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee" in 2011 and as one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals" in 2009. The festival brings films from all over the country and offers a wide range of independent features, documentaries and short films to Memphis.
The celebration takes place in Overton Square in Midtown Memphis, home to the city's entertainment center and offering many restaurants, bars and clubs.Past screenings have gone on to win many awards. The festival attracts local musicians to perform in theaters prior to screenings, during music showcases and other parts of the festival.
For tickets, your best bet is to buy in advance online. The box office lines tend to be long, and screenings tend to sell out.
