Ridgewood is the ultimate local favorite, and not just with the locals. Raved over in travel magazines and on Good Morning America, Ridgewood Barbecue is worth the trip. The baked beans are a must in any order! French fries have the potato skin on them, yielding more flavor & texture. The barbecue is slow-cooked outside in a smokehouse. Ridgewood makes its own sauce--of the tomato-based persuasion.
Ridgewood is very casual, exuding authenticity & lack of pretense. The cafe is located on a twisting, turning road that used to be the main road between Elizabethton and Johnson City.
