Don’t miss this Wartburg institution, dating back
to 1923. The store is housed in a 1906 bank
building that still features the original
vault. In its early years, trains brought
workers to and from the nearby Gobey coal mines
and specifically to the store on Saturday nights.
Facilities were set up in the back where the men could bathe.
Over the years, the store has become a spot
for antiques and other treasures; grab a
stool at the counter and have a milkshake
or banana split. Closed Wed. & Sun.
