The entire southern half of the Cherokee National Forest forms the heart of the Tennessee Overhill. With its rivers, trails, forested mountains, green rolling hills, two scenic byways and four rivers within 30 miles, the Tennessee Overhill is a beautiful, scenic place to visit. The Tennessee Overhill also operates the Hiwassee River Rail Adventure out of Etowah, TN. This is a scenic train excursion that takes passengers into the Cherokee National Forest and along the scenic Hiwassee River and Gorge. This trip also includes the historic Hiwassee Loop. 

Directions: Located in the mountains of southeast Tennessee, the Tennessee Overhill covers McMinn, Monroe, and Polk Counties, as well as the southern portion of the Cherokee National Forest. Located halfway between Chattanooga and Knoxville, the Tennessee Overhill area is easily accessible via Interstate 75, Interstate 40, Highway 11, Highway 411, Highway 64, and Highway 68.
