You'll be inspired by the largest group of independent artisans in North America. The historic 8-mile Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community loop has been designated a Tennessee Heritage Arts & Crafts Trail. To showcase the state's rich history, the Tennessee Heritage Trail highlights the cultural heritage and natural talents of our people. Established in 1937, this community of artisans whittle, paint, sew, cast, weave and carve to create original collectibles such as candles, oak and willow baskets, quilts, brooms, pottery, jewelry, dolls, ceramics, scrimshaw, silversmithing, leather, stained glass, wearable fashions, fine photography. You'll be delighted with the art, including oils, watercolors, sculptures and lithographs. Stay in the crafts community or nearby at one of the welcoming bed and breakfasts or inns, dine at the Wild Plum Tea Room or one of the fine restaurants or cafés, and indulge at a soda fountain and in the treat-filled candy shops. Make plans to visit the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. Shops are open year-round.
