This small park was dedicated in 2001 as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the 1999 tornadoes that devastated the area, and as a tribute to the spirit of unity in Jackson/Madison County. The park itself was hit by a tornado in 2003, a storm so strong it picked up one of the giant concrete spheres and deposited it nearby.
