New Tennessee Experiences Coming in 2022

Check out the new unique restaurants, attractions, hotels and more opening in 2022.

New attractions, expansions, restaurants, hotels and more are slated to make 2022 a bright year in Tennessee. Zoo expansions, luxury hotels, event centers and more new developments are in store for Tennessee that appeal to families, couples, food and drink connoisseurs and everyone in between. Here's a sampling of what's new in Tennessee in 2022.

East Tennessee

Company Distilling - Alcoa

Former Jack Daniel’s master distiller is bringing a new venture to Alcoa in 2022 called Company Distilling. Visitors can experience a tasting room, brewery, retail store and bonfire pits.

Chattanooga Zoo – Chattanooga

Upgrades are in the works at the Chattanooga Zoo, including the recent addition of three male reticulated giraffes. Meanwhile, the Warner Park Ranch which is home to alpacas, camels, goats and pot-bellied pigs is in the process of being expanded. Renovations on the Himalayan Passage, home of the zoo’s red pandas, are in the final stages of planning.

Coffee Ridge Resort – Unicoi County

Coffee Ridge Resort in Unicoi County will be an all-inclusive, couples-only resort offering high-end, tailor-made experiences for couples to connect with nature and, ultimately, each other. The $20-million investment into the luxury cabin resort will be the first of its kind in Northeast Tennessee.

SkyLand Ranch – Sevierville

Live entertainment, rides, shopping and a mountain coaster will be found at SkyLand Ranch.

Opening April 2022, SkyLand Ranch will be the newest addition to Sevierville that will offer shopping in boutiques and souvenir shops, live entertainment and rides. Enjoy a chairlift ride, mountain coaster and canopy walks for unique views of the beloved Great Smoky Mountains. Pick up sweet treats at the candy kitchen and bakery. Squeal with delight over the rescued miniature animals, including cows and donkeys.

New Culinary Spots - Sevierville

Sevierville's historic downtown will see two new culinary additions in 2022. Follow the aroma of wood burning and meat smoking to Trotter's Whole Hot BBQ opening in May 2022. You'll love the laidback atmosphere as you enjoy traditional barbecue sides, yardbird, sausages, ribs and more as well as local and regional craft beers. Savor the flavors indoors or on the patio and enjoy the live music performances. Iron Forge Brewing Company is expected to open its doors Summer 2022 in Sevierville as well. The 25,000-square-foot brewery will include an indoor tasting room, brewpub serving burgers, kid-friendly options and Brazilian culinary options, beer garden and outdoor patio. 

Middle Tennessee 

Nashville SC Stadium - Nashville

Nashville’s Major League Soccer's new stadium will be located at the city’s fairgrounds in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. The space will be Music City’s newest venue for MLS matches, live music and more, set to open in May 2022.

Cruisin' Tikis Nashville - Gallatin

Take in the beautiful sites of Old Hickory Lake and the surrounding area with Cruisin' Tikis Nashville out of Gallatin Marina. Harvester Event Center – Smithville

A new event center is coming to Smithville in 2022. Harvester Event Center will be a mid-century structure in downtown Smithville that will be the go-to for live, local music, high-quality events and more in the area. The main venue with the Yella Dog Lounge will be a 4,000-square-foot space with two bars and a 500-square-foot stage. 

Southall Farms - Franklin

Franklin will soon have a luxurious getaway located minutes from its historic downtown. Opening in 2022, Southall Farms will be 325 acres of luxury with an Inn, private cabins, world-class dining experience and spa set against the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. Guests at Southall will have the option of booking a room, cottage or a stilted arbor cottage. Suites will include oversized soaking tubs, personalized smart technology, and premium linens and bath items. The Spa at Southall will include services like whole-body balance, hot stone massages, facials and deep tissue massages among other services.

West Tennessee 

Memphis Zoo – Memphis

Memphis Zoo will open AquiFUR in Spring 2022, a new splash pad that’s fun for kids 10 years and under. The splash pad will have an Egyptian theme as a tribute to the beginning of Memphis, named after the ancient city of Memphis, Egypt which was also located on a great river – The Nile. The AquiFUR will be an immersive, zero-depth water play area featuring slides, dump buckets, interactive water toys and a special section for toddlers. Families can cool off in the warmer months while enjoying the zoo at the splash pad. You'll even be able to reserve a luxury cabana and party rooms for birthday parties and other events.

Rockin’ Roll Hatchie Trails - Brownsville

Explore a new dirt trail system coming in Spring 2022.

Coming Spring 2022, a 4.5-mile natural dirt trail system designed for mountain biking, hiking or running located along Sugar Creek, a stream within the Scenic Hatchie River watershed. The multi-use trail highlights the music heritage of the region with trails designed for beginners to advanced mountain bikers, named after icons such as Tina Turner and Sleepy John Estes.

Savannah Sports Complex – Savannah

The Savannah Sportsplex Phase 1 will open Fall 2022 and will span 68.5 acres in Savannah, Tennessee. Phase 1 of construction includes four soccer fields (two regulation size and two that are smaller than regulation fields), a concessions building, maintenance building and pavilion. Additional information on development will be announced in coming months.
