Visit an Antebellum Mansion Decorated for Christmas
Historic Lairdland Farm House, ca. 1831, was the center of a thriving antebellum plantation that remained in one family for more than 150 years. It is open for tours by appointment, during which guests will enjoy the beautifully restored original architecture of the large home's interior and exterior, the Victorian traveller's cottage and the gardens and grounds. Decorated with 19th century antiques and appointments, the home holds many fascinating collections from antique dolls and toys to timepieces, glassware, clothing and jewelry. A portion of the impressive mansion was converted into a Civil War Museum, also open to tour goers, containing both Union and Confederate artifacts, clothing and uniforms, soldiers' personal items, military weaponry and equipment and numerous other pieces from the Lairdland owners' private collection. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places since 1995, the current owners were awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Tennessee Historical Commission for preservation and restoration of the historic property in 2005. In 2008 Lairdland Farm House was the second site in the state designated as an official stop along the Tennessee Civil War Trail.
