The Wilson County Fair will open early on August 21 this year for the solar eclipse. The fair will open at 10 a.m. and offer many family-fun attractions, including educational activities beginning at 10:30 a.m.  A viewing area for the eclipse will also be set up at the Motorsports Arena. *Glasses will be provided with admission, while supplies last.

The Wilson County Fair begins August 18 – 26. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $12 at the gate. Tickets for children ages six to 12 are $6 and children five and under are free.

Fair eclipse programs include (8/21):

Register for a chance to win a ride on the Ferris Wheel (aka the best seat in the house) during the period of totality.

10:30 p.m. — Welcome and Hands on Activity: “What is an Eclipse.”

11 a.m. — A Walk Through History: “Space Observation and Discovery from Ancient Civilizations to Modern Day.”

11:30 a.m. — How Farmers and Sharecroppers Planted by Lunar Phases.

Noon — Hands on Activity: “Big Sun, Small Moon? Why do they look the same size in the sky?”

12:20 p.m. — zSpace: A 3D look at a Lunar and Solar Eclipse.

12:40 p.m. — Google Expedition: Virtual Reality Adventure to the Moon.
