The sights, the sounds and the smells of Christmas fill the air this time of year.  Children eagerly wait for the big day while parents capture memories they will treasure for a lifetime. It's a time of cheer and good will. In our corner of Tennessee, it is a truly special experience as we meld the Christmas of Yesteryear with new traditions celebrated throughout our beautiful mountain towns.

CHRISTMAS ON MAIN - MOUNTAIN CITY - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2023

Join us for our family-friendly Christmas festival as we kick off the season with specially curated events to share our exceptional holiday cheer!  While you're in town, make sure you vote for your favorites in our Deck the Poles, Window Display and Festival of Trees contests. Plan on spending the day with us!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

10:00am-4:00pm . . . Festival of Trees - Johnson County Welcome Center

FREE - View and vote for your favorite tree.  While your there, make sure to visit our Johnson County History Museum and visit their gift shop. Proceeds from this event benefits the Johnson County Historical Society.

1:00-4:00pm . . . Cookie Walk with Santa - Local's Deli on Main Street

Children can visit with Santa Clause and parents are encouraged to take plenty of photos! No admission charge.  Only $3 for Cookie Bag and your choice of hot cocoa, hot cider, Grinch punch or water. Featuring cookies baked by our Johnson County High School Culinary Arts Program and our awesome volunteers. Additional food and beverages available for purchase through Local's Deli. The creative team from Crystalac will provide FREE Make and Take Christmas ornaments from Crystalac. One per child, while supplies last. Proceeds from this event benefits the Johnson County Historical Society and the Johnson County History Museum.

4:00-8:00pm . . . Christmas Village - County Courthouse Lawn on Main Street

Featuring food and craft vendors. Interested vendors can contact the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce.

5:30pm . . . Christmas of Yesteryear Parade - Main Street 

Enjoy our homage to holiday nostalgia with our parade that features Santa Clause! Interested participants can  contact the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce.

6:30pm . . . Christmas Tree Lighting with Live Music & Entertainment

Join us as we officially launch the Christmas season with our anual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, live holiday music and local cloggers.

7:00pm . . . Irving Berlin's "White Christmas - Heritage Hall Theatre

Based on the beloved and timeless holiday favorite, "White Christmas" brings back warm memories while introducing incredible music to new generations. Thursday, November 30 - Saturday, December 2 at 7:00pm and Sunday, December 3 at 3:00pm

DOE MOUNTAIN RECREATION AREA TOY DRIVE

Saturday, December 2 | 10:00am-4:00pm

This heartwarming event aims to spread joy to local children in need and promises a day of fun and festivities for all participants. The event is open to the public, and in exchange for your generous donation of an unwrapped toy, you'll receive free access to enjoy a day on the scenic Doe Mountain.  Get details here.
