Learn more about Foothills Quilt Guild Showcase.
“This exhibit, including hand-made and machine-made large and small quilts, highlights the talent and skill that it takes to make quilts,” said Kim Mitchell, director of tourism for the Blount Partnership. “Each quilt is a true piece of Appalachian heritage, and we hope visitors will stop by and learn about these timeless pieces of functional artwork.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the quilts and items throughout the month of March in the visitors center and to read about the patterns and techniques used with each item.
The Foothills Quilters Guild endeavors to preserve and encourage the art of quilt-making as well as help others to appreciate its tradition and heritage. The Guild welcomes quilt makers of all skill-levels, beginners to professional quilters, to join and preserve the tradition of quilt-making. To join the guild or for more information, please contact Betty Peabody at (865) 982-5839.
Visitors can stop in at the Visitors Center to ask questions, learn about the area and its programs and workshops, and even shop for books, music, T-shirts and outdoor gear, toys, and other items related to the Smokies. The store is operated with Great Smoky Mountains Association and purchases benefit the National Park.
