Fire on the water is a one-day music festival on the Old Hickory Lake that celebrates Gallatin’s spirit with music, entertainment, and a unique food and beverage experience unlike any other gathering north of Nashville. FOTW features two stages and 10 acts, craft brews from local breweries like Briarscratch and Half Batch Brewing, fire entertainers, bonfires, and the best food trucks in the area including Cousins Maine Lobster and Grilled Cheeserie. Lock 4 Park is the most unique setting for a gathering with more than 180 degree views of the Cumberland River. On land or on water, this will be the ideal location for music, entertainment, food and fire.
Just north of Nashville, Sumner County was home to the likes of Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins. It was normal (and still is) to run into big names in the entertainment industry around town. And while Reba moved and many of the old greats are gone, the tradition of making music is still a part of our life along the 400 miles of Old Hickory Lake's shoreline.
The name "Fire on the Water" began as a nod to the great Johnny Cash and his song "Ring of Fire." Cash lived on Old Hickory Lake and is buried just ten miles from Gallatin. While the reference to Cash slipped away as the festival evolved, the fire part stuck and was solidified when a circus troupe in Nashville surfaced specializing in fire entertainment. Together with professional sound partners, food trucks, local beer and more than 100 boats surrounding the lakefront venue...a unique experience was born....Fire on the Water Music Festival.
People will travel from the whole region to see great music, and Fire on the Water brings more than that. FOTW is a celebration of live music and a showcase of the place we live that has inspired so many American songwriters and performers.
