Bulls Gap

This town is named for John Bull, a settler who operated the first stage
line through this pass in the late 1700s. Later, the
East Tennessee & Virginia Railroad
laid tracks, making the town a strategic location for both armies during
the Civil War. The commercial center of town emerged between the two lines,
close to the depot
