Collinwood began as a railroad community in the early 1900s, with the original land lots for the town divided from a farm in 1913. The town was named for W. W. Collins, the manager of Wayne CountyÂ’s railroad operations. Today, its Welcome Center serves as one of TennesseeÂ’s finest first impressions as it greets visitors just north of the Alabama state line.
