From the late 1800s to early 1900s, this area was home to the Bon Aqua Springs Resort — the largest health spa in Middle Tennessee. Its mineral waters were used to “treat” ailments from anemia to yellow fever. Recently, the land was designated a SNA, preserving stands of trees almost 400 years old including rare towering white oaks. A 1-mile walking trail circles though the area.
